Open Muse is a personal AI assistant published by chirpet.com. This policy explains what the Open Muse app and the Open Muse service handle, where it goes, and how to remove it. Questions: openmuse@chirpet.com.

Your Open Muse account

You sign in with an email address and password. The account lets the Open Muse service keep your settings separate from everyone else's. The Open Muse service runs on Volcano Engine (Volcengine) cloud infrastructure in mainland China and stores:

• your email address and a password hash, kept by the sign-in provider;
• the Volcano Ark API key you connect, encrypted;
• the IDs of the assistant, cloud environment, and memory store created for you, encrypted;
• an encrypted copy of your main chat, saved replies, and Feed and Ideas posts, so your devices stay in sync;
• your check-in schedule and time zone, and the reminders you set;
• if you connect Lark (Feishu), the Lark sign-in tokens, encrypted;
• a list of your devices with their platform, app version, and when each was last seen.

Conversations and the AI model

What you write, the files and photos you attach, and the device data you choose to share are sent to Volcano Ark (Volcano Engine's model and Managed Agents service) to produce replies. The app calls Ark directly with the API key connected to your account, and Ark keeps your conversations, the assistant's memory, and the work done in your cloud environment under that key's Volcano Engine account. Volcano Engine processes this data under its own privacy policy and terms.

If someone else gave you the API key you use (for example during a beta test), your conversations and memory are stored in their Volcano Engine account and they can access them there.

Apple Health and other device data

Open Muse reads Apple Health only after you allow it in iOS, and only when the assistant needs a figure to answer you, such as your steps, workouts, sleep, heart rate, or weight. Until you connect Apple Health in the app, each read asks you first. Calendar, Reminders, and Contacts are read only after you approve each request in the chat. The data read is sent to Ark as part of that conversation, as described above. Open Muse never writes to Apple Health, never uses Health data for advertising or marketing, and never sells or shares it with data brokers.

The camera and microphone are used only when you take a photo or record a video to send.

What we do not do

• No advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs, and no crash reporting service.
• We do not sell your data or share it with third parties other than the services described here.

Your choices

• Export: Settings > Account and workspace > Export my data saves a copy of everything the Open Muse service keeps for your account.
• Delete: Settings > Account and workspace > Delete account removes your account and everything the Open Muse service keeps for it. Conversations and memory stored in Ark stay in the Volcano Engine account that owns the API key and can be deleted there.
• Health access: Disconnect Apple Health in Connectors, or change access in iOS Settings > Health.

Children

Open Muse is not directed to children under 13.
